Approximately 80% of the wheat grown in Oklahoma is stored through a network of grain elevators from which it is either processed, exported, or stored for periods ranging from 6 months to a year on average. Oklahoma State University has been a leader in the development of Integrated Pest Management Systems for stored grains. Food security and biosafety have become important issues during the past decade. OSU's National Institute for Microbial Forensics and Food and Agricultural Biosecurity was created to address these issues.
