![]() Professional Employment Opportunities in the DepartmentAssistant Professor & Extension Specialist in Horticultural EntomologyDepartment of Entomology and Plant PathologyOklahoma State University The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Oklahoma State University is seeking a tenure-track, Assistant Professor & State Extension Specialist (100% Extension) to provide statewide leadership for an Extension and applied research program focused on management of insect pests in commercial and consumer fruits, nuts and vegetable crops. This is an eleven month, tenure-track appointment in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology. The successful candidate will be expected to: develop innovative and effective educational programs for arthropod management (including pollinators) in fruits, nuts and vegetables in Oklahoma for delivery to county Extension educators, area Extension specialists, producers, allied industry personnel and the Master Gardener program; provide curricula, training and support for Extension educators and area Extension specialists; develop timely, proactive Extension publications and presentations regarding management of insect pests affecting fruits, nuts and vegetable crops; work closely with other research and Extension teams and allied agencies to develop team approaches for delivering educational programs in the areas of responsibility; develop extramural funds to maintain an applied research program that complements the Extension program; and mentor graduate students. The successful candidate will collaborate with the IPM Oklahoma! program, the Plant Disease and Insect Diagnostic Laboratory, and the Pesticide Safety and Education Program to develop extension materials and deliver pest management recommendations. Collaborative opportunities exist with a strong multidisciplinary team of scientists and other professionals across the university. Qualified applicants must have an earned doctorate in entomology or a related field; a background in horticulture crop production and insect pest management of said crops is desirable.
